When I was a young child I was given a set of paint by numbers in oil paint. I threw away the numbers and kept the paint. I loved sports and played football baseball and basketball. But my heros were Rembrandt, Michael Angelo, El Greco and most of all the impressionists. I fell in love with Art an began a journey of self taught, several self taught books and a continuous study of all mediums. I was fortunate enough to have worked with a friend who was a gifted artist and expert at Art Restoration. He mentored and taught me until his sudden Passing. Since then I have and continue to explore all meduims. Because I am retired from my business career I can devote my time to my passion . I have been most fortunate in traveling and visiting many Art Musuems in USA. Today I am continuing my journey and my art continues to evolve. My research either by studying a orginal Art at musuems or a tree in spring or the paintings of an unknown master recently found continue my journey and love of art.
Oil has been my first love. Then I explored water colors and now acrylics. Color, motion and emotion are the elements I wish to evoke. Each medium presents its own attributes and its own challenges. The simple painting of a tree in different mediums creates different moods. The endless capacity for color and the different elements of painting create an endless Study of all mediums.
My greatest inspiration comes from the human condition and the interpretation of that condition by the artist that painted before me.
The great Art from ancient Egypt to the Middle Ages to The Impressionists to modern day art.
Nature has and continues to present and endless source of great art ......the unlimited colors of a sunset or sunrise or the beauty of the desert or the night sky all present an endless source of inspiration.
